The Madhya Pradesh government has come up with a mobile application to market rare chicken breed-the Kadaknath-whose black meat is in high demand for its nutritious content and purported medicinal properties. The MP Kadaknath mobile app aims to connect poultries that sale the breed with people from other parts of the country. Through this app, people can place orders for Kadaknath chicken from anywhere. Availability of Kadaknath chickens with the cooperative societies can also be seen on this app, Minister of State for Cooperatives Vishwas Sarang told PTI today. He said the app would provide marketing platform to 430 members of 21 societies in Jhabua and Alirajpur districts and that more societies are being added to this platform. The minister said Kadaknath breed is known for its taste and nourishment value, especially high percentage of protein. A Kadaknath chicken contains 25-27 per cent of protein in comparison with other breeds of chickens that contain 18 per cent protein. This breed is also known for its high iron content. Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi in what seems to be a dictatorial order has announced suspension of distribution of free rice to villagers in the Union Territory till the local administration submits a certificate proving they are open defecation-free, garbage and plastic free. Indian Navy carries out mega war game in Arabian sea
The Indian Navy has carried out a major review of its operational capabilities during a two-month mega war game in the Arabian Sea in which all its frontline warships, submarines and aircraft were deployed. This review included both, peacetime operations as well as the training and preparations for war, the Navy said in a statement. The war game was conducted on both the seaboards of India extending from the northern Arabian sea off the coast of Gujarat to the southern Indian ocean off the Sunda Straits near Indonesia. The Navy said the war game was the first of its kind to be conducted on both seaboards which is indicative of the Navys threat perceptions of a two-front war. The exercise on the eastern seaboard was codenamed ENCORE (Eastern Naval Command Operational Readiness Exercise) ,while on the Western seaboard its codename was Paschim Lehar. In preparation for conflict, the Navy revamped its operational exercise plans to make them more contemporary and realistic. In a two-year cycle promulgated by Naval headquarters, the Indian Navy has literally cut the flab in the various exercises undertaken at sea, the Navy said. The CBI today issued a look out circular against promoters and directors of Kanishk Gold Pvt Ltd, accused in an alleged loan fraud of Rs 824 crore, to prevent them from leaving the country, officials said today. They said the agency also questioned Bhoopesh Jain and Neeta Jain, the directors of the company, in connection with the fraud at the agencys office in Bengaluru. The CBI has registered a case of an alleged loan fraud of Rs 824.15 crore on a consortium of 14 banks led by the State Bank of India and carried out searches on Wednesday, officials said. The agency has booked the company – Kanishk Gold Pvt Ltd, its promoter Director Bhoopesh Kumar Jain, Director Neeta Jain, Tejraj Achha, Ajay Kumar Jain and Sumit Kedia besides unidentified public servants. JJ Hospital’s provisional diagnosis points to drug overdose in Indrani Mukerjea’s case
State-run JJ Hospital authorities today said a basic-level provisional diagnosis pointed to a drug overdose in the case of Indrani Mukerjea, who was arrested by the police in August, 2015 for allegedly killing daughter Sheena Bora. Mukerjea was brought to the JJ Hospital at around 11:15 pm on Friday from the Byculla Jail in south Mumbai in a semi-conscious state and was admitted to the Critical Care Unit, doctors said. Dr Sudhir Nanandkar, Dean of JJ Hospital, said, Presently, the basic-level provisional diagnosis is of a drug overdose. It was said that she was on anti-depressants, but it has not been confirmed. JEE Mains 2018: Fake news, says government on charges that CBSE plagiarised questions from mock test
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday denied all reports related to JEE (Mains) 2018 examinations that claimed that seven to eight questions out of 90 in the exam were picked from a model question paper which was set by a coaching institute in 2016. It said that all the questions in the JEE paper were original. A senior CBSE official said the JEE question paper contains questions that are picked out of question banks which have almost 1,500 original items. The question bank is formulated by over 100 experts and each problem is handwritten. After this, the moderator even makes handwritten changes to each set. Then anyone set is randomly picked for use in JEE and sent to the confidential printer, The board in its statement has advised against paying attention to falsities and said: CBSE reiterates that all these 7-8 questions were originally written only about two to three months back and they cannot and could not have figured in any model paper by any coaching institutions two years back. A Bhagalpur court today granted conditional bail to Arijit Shashwat, son of Union minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey, and seven others in connection with a case relating to recent communal clashes here. Shashwat and eight others were named in a case related to the communal clashes in Bhagalpur on March 17. Acting District Judge Kumud Ranjan Singh granted regular bail to Arijit Shashwat and seven others, while one accused person could not get bail as he did not turn up in the court. While enlarging Shashwat on bail, the court put a condition that he would not participate in any kind of dharna, procession, protest and agitation for the next 30 days. The court passed the order on a bail petition filed by Arijit Shashwat and others. TB in India: Jail, fine for doctors, chemists, hospital authorities; here is why
With an aim to eradicate tuberculosis (TB) in India, the Centre has issued stringent rules. The Union Health Ministry has issued a notification stating that doctors, druggists, chemists and hospital authorities could face a jail term of six months to two years under the provisions of Sections 269 and 270. Section 269 states negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life and IPC 270 states malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life. Notably, one can be punished with a six months jail term or fine under Section 269. Section 270 provides a jail term of two years or fine. The notification also says if a clinical establishment fail to notify TB patient to local public health staff and nodal officer, it will face action. Notably, in our country, TB was defined as a notifiable disease in 2012. However, there was no provision for penal action. Clinical Establishment Act, 2010 defines clinical establishments which include diagnostic services, dispensaries, hospitals and clinics. This act also defines the centre operated by single doctor. 22 crew members rescued from burning ship reach India
A shipping line official says 22 crew members evacuated from a Singapore-flagged cargo ship that caught fire in the Arabian Sea earlier this week have reached India. Palle Laursen, chief technical officer from Maersk, says hopes are fading for finding four missing crewmembers. The rescue operation was continuing with an Indian Coast Guard vessel on the site near Agatti Island, about 650 nautical miles (1,203 kilometers) from Kochi, an Indian coastal city. Laursen said the rescued crewmembers were taken to the southern Indian cities of Kochi and Trivandrum and received medical treatment. Petrol bomb hurled at BJP district chief’s house in Coimbatore, none hurt
Miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at the residence of a BJP functionary in Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu early today but no one was injured, police said. They said a car parked outside the house of BJP district president C R Nandakumar was damaged in the incident. The bomb was hurled around 3AM when Nandakumar was sleeping in the house, police said. BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan is expected to visit the house, Nandakumar said. This comes a day after the statue of late Dravidian leader Periyar was found vandalised in Pudukottai district. Police were verifying the CCTV footage obtained from the cameras installed in the area to identify the miscreants. A large posse of police have been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident.
