Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu on Tuesday ordered a probe into an incident involving the IndiGo staff offloading a passenger at Lucknow airport on Tuesday, news agency PTI reported. The ministers order of an inquiry into the matter came barely hours after the report surfaced in the media. Dr Saurabh Rai, the passenger of Indigo aircraft who boarded the plane on Monday, was allegedly deboarded after he complained of mosquitoes onboard. In a delightful news, Delhiites will now get hourly compensation of Rs 100 in case of unscheduled power cuts with the same being adjusted in their monthly bills, Power Minister Satyendar Jain said today. Lt Governor Anil Baijal had yesterday approved the initiative by the Delhi government. There is real-time data of outages and if an unscheduled power cut affects more than 50 consumers in an area, they need not complain. The compensation will be adjusted in their monthly bills, the minister told reporters here. The real-time data of outages is maintained by power discoms and the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC). The policy has been made to ensure accountability of discoms to consumers, Jain said. The proposal has now been sent to the DERC and it will be notified soon, he said. As per the policy, the discoms will not have to pay compensation if outage lasts for one hour. For next one hour, they will pay the same at the rate of Rs 50 per consumer. Cracking the whip on bureaucrats for allegedly refusing answers to questions raised by legislators in the Delhi Assembly, Speaker Ram Niwas Goel has sent around a dozen such matters to House panels for action since the Budget Session began on March 16. The matters involve officers of different departments of the Delhi government. Delhi Assembly committees will submit their reports and the House will take action based on recommendations by the panels, the speaker said. A bench of Justices Madan B Lokur, Kurian Joseph and Deepak Gupta said this when the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) came up with an over 700-page document. Dismissing a batch of petitions seeking an independent probe into the alleged mysterious death of special CBI judge Brijgopal Harikishan Loya, the Supreme Court on Thursday said that the petitions were serious attempts to scandalise and obstruct the course of justice. Judge Loya, who was hearing the alleged Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case, died of a cardiac arrest on December 1, 2014, in Nagpur, where he had gone to attend the wedding of a colleague BJP chief Amit Shah, among others, was named in the Sohrabuddin case and later discharged. A video showing a nursing assistant behaving cruelly towards an elderly patient at the government medical college here has gone viral on social media today, prompting the authorities to suspend him from service. In the video, the male nursing staff was seen verbally abusing and twisting the fingers of the senior citizen, who was admitted to the hospital with fracture on his leg. The visuals were reportedly taken by a bystander of another patient person in his mobile phone. With local news channels airing the visuals, Health Minister K K Shylaja directed the medical college superintendent to conduct an inquiry and take stringent measures if necessary. During the preliminary inquiry, the nursing assistant and the ward where the cruelty had happened, were identified, a hospital release said here. The staff was suspended based on the inquiry report, it said. However, it was yet to be ascertained when the incident had taken place. The patient was already discharged from the hospital and further action would be taken after tracing him, the release added.

Rajya Sabha elections 2018: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) today named its national spokesman Manoj Jha and Ashfaque Karim, managing director of the Katihar Medical College and Hospital, as its candidates from Bihar for the upcoming Rajya Sabha biennial elections. There are six vacancies in the Rajya Sabha from Bihar, polling for which will be held on March 23. RJDs Bihar unit president Ram Chandra Purbey announced here at the party office that Jha, a Delhi University professor, and Karim would be the partys candidates for Rajya Sabha election. Both would file their nomination papers tomorrow at 11 am, Purbey said, adding that (RJD) national president Lalu Prasad has chosen them as candidates. VHP not part of out of court settlement efforts, says Dinesh Chandra
The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) said today that it had no connection with the efforts being made for an out-of-court settlement in the Ayodhya case and said it would abide by the court verdict in this regard. Talking to reporters here, Dinesh Chandra, VHPs international organization general secretary said, we are hopeful of an early verdict from Supreme Court.The court will now hear the case as title suit but our lawyers are confident that we have full proofs to to prove the disputed land as Ram Janmabhoomi. Chandra claimed that if the apex court verdict goes against the Ram Janmabhoomi then we will urge the Union government to make a law for the construction of a Ram Janmabhoomi temple on the site. It is the responsibility of the Union government what message they want to give to the people, he said. The Centre must remove all hurdles in the way of Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir construction, said Chandra.
