Thought government schools are drab? This Alwar school’s transformation has turned it into a tourist spot! PICS inside
If you happen to visit a particular government school in Alwar, Rajasthan, then you might be mistaken that you are on a railway platform. However, this government school in the city, which is adjacent to the railway station, has done a phenomenal job to re-paint their school to resemble a railway station! Replete with a train, an engine and a platform, the school has been painted in a Railway Theme and reason may be hiding in its name. Government Senior Secondary School, Railway Station definitely takes its name very seriously. While speaking to ANI, principal Purushottam Gupta said that they wanted the number of students coming to their school to increase and the transformation was necessary as many students would otherwise have moved to a private institution. The trend was seen due to lack of facilities in government schools. What is interesting about the entire renovation is that the principals office has been painted as a railway engine while the classrooms look like passenger compartments. The veranda of the school has also been transformed to look like a railway platform as well. However, the man behind the idea to repaint the school as a railway platform is junior engineer Rajesh…

This is one couple who decided to give up the comfort zone of fat-pay packets, Rs 30 lakh annualy between them to venture into an unknown realm – starting a tea shop. The duo – Nitin V. Biyani, 36 and wife Pooja, 34 – embarked on their journey after considerable thought and intellectual inputs from their elders, especially Poojas father. One fine day, the Biyanis finally dumped their cushy software engineering jobs with top multinationals in Pune to throw open their Chai Villa in Nagpurs centrally-located Darodkar Square. Pooja and I worked in the highly-taxing IT industry. Often, like other professionals, we used to drink a cup of tea (chai) to relax and destress. We always craved for healthy and tasty chai, but what we got was really terrible chai made at tea-stalls in grossly unhygienic conditions and poor in taste, Nitin told IANS. We both thought of changing all this and replace with hot, tasty, fresh handmade chai at nominal rates. Then, we just kick-started the idea in Nagpur, the Orange City of India last November, Pooja added. Earlier, they carried out detailed market research for nearly four months to learn that true to its reputation, India is indeed…

A year ahead of Lok Sabha elections and assembly elections in the state, the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) legislatures are in favour of breaking ties with the BJP over granting of special status to Andhra Pradesh. In a meeting on Tuesday called by Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu, 95 per cent of MLAs and MLCs voted in favour of breaking ties with the BJP, while the remaining According to Varaprasad, the five per cent MLCs want to wait to see if Centre would react favourably during the ongoing Budget session when TDP MPs raise the demand in Parliament. However, it may not be easy for the Centre to accept Naidus demand. The demand for a special status for Andhra Pradesh betrays competitive federalism being promoted by Narendra Modi government since 2014. The idea urges states to compete and not depend totally on the Centre for funds. The benefits of Special Category Status (SCS) was also blunted by the 14th Finance Commission, which submitted its report in December 2015. In past, Bihar and Odisha have failed in making the Centre accept their demand for special status. If these two poor states failed to get special status tags, TDP knows it…
