Violating the norms laid down by the Central Board of Secondary Education, a school in the capital allegedly used the Delhi Metro service to transport the CBSE Class XII chemistry board examination answer sheets from the school to the CBSE headquarters. A report by The Indian Express quotes a lawyer, Tarun Narang, who was commuting in the same metro, saying that an employee of Mata Kasturi Devi Senior Secondary Public School took the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro with the seal-packed answer sheets. The SC, however, made it mandatory to set strict guidelines that will govern when it is permitted. A five-judge Constitution Bench, headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra, also recognised a living will made by terminally ill patients likely to go into a permanent vegetative state. The Bench laid down guidelines for adoption of a living will, including who would execute it and how a nod for passive euthanasia would be granted by the medical board. Sedition case: Bailable warrant issued against Hardik Patel
A sessions court here today issued a bailable warrant against Patidar quota agitation leader Hardik Patel for not being present during the proceedings of framing of charges against him and others in a sedition case. Judge D P Mahida issued the warrant and posted the matter for April 25 for hearing on the framing of charges. In February this year, the court had rejected Patels discharge application. A case of sedition was registered against Patel by the Ahmedabad crime branch following violence during the agitation for OBC quota for the Patidar community in August 2015. Patel and others are accused of inciting violence with the intention to dislodge the government after a rally addressed by him turned violent in August 2015. At least 13 people died in the violence. Of the six accused in the FIR, two are yet to be arrested, while another person, Ketan Patel, has turned a prosecution witness. The West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday held a protest march in the city after the revelations regarding an alledged rotten meat supply racket. Slamming the the ruling Trinamool Congress, the party said that state machinery is involved in the racket and demanded strict action against the accused involved in it. The state police have so far seized more than 20 tonnes of rotten meat which were suspected to be of dead animals. Police have apprehended a minor in connection with the killing of a 21-year-old Delhi University student, who was allegedly killed by a man after their relationship turned sour, police said today. The body of Ayush Nautiyal, a final year student of Ram Lal Anand College in south campus, was found in a drain in Dwarka Sector 13 on Wednesday night. His family was receiving ransom calls from March 22 demanding Rs 50 lakh, they said. However, following the arrest of Ishtiaq, a sampling manager with several export houses, it was revealed that he had killed Nautiyal on March 22 with a hammer. The Centre today informed the Supreme Court that in the interest of the nation, it will not damage the mythological Ram Sethu for its Sethusamudram Ship Channel project. The Union Ministry of Shipping, in its affidavit, told a bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra that the PIL filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy against the Sethusamudram project can now be disposed off by taking note of its stand. That the government of India intends to explore an alternative to the earlier alignment of Sethusamudram Ship Channel project without affecting\/damaging the Adams Bridge\/Ram Sethu in the interest of the nation, the affidavit filed by the ministry said. Security agencies have started implementing a plan chalked out in a recent meeting with the Jammu and Kashmir governor for the safety of pilgrims and success of the upcoming 60-day long Amarnath Yatra, a senior police official said today. Governor N N Vohra on Monday had reviewed the security plan for the yatra in a meeting that was attended by Director General of Police S P Vaid and Chief Secretary B B Vyas. The annual yatra to the Himalayan shrine in south Kashmir will start on June 28 and it would be longer by 20 days this year. It will end on Raksha Bandhan. Security agencies have already started implementing the security plan chalked out at a recent meeting chaired by Governor N N Vohra for the success of the yatra. Shocking! Female friend prime suspect in acid attack on 23-year-old woman in Ghaziabad
In a shocking incident, a woman has been alleged to be responsible for an acid attack on her estranged friend in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The incident has been reported from Mohan Nagar intersection, where two men on a bike threw a corrosive substance which is suspected to be acid on a 23-year-old woman while she was on her way to work. She has suffered severe burn injuries and has been admitted to a city hospital. 2016 Jeddah suicide bomber was an Indian, DNA test confirms identity: Report
The suicide bomber who blew himself up outside the US consulate in Jeddah in July 2016 was an Indian national and an operative of banned terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a report in The Indian Express revealed citing a senior security official. As per the report, Saudi Arabia confirmed the development on the basis of DNA test of the suicide bomber who was identified as Fayaz Kagzi. The official cited above said that they have received confirmation from Saudi Arabian authorities that the DNA samples sent by New Delhi last year have matched those of the bomber.
