According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, Patel is at the top of the waiting list of patients for the 42-bed ICU as of March 15. The waiting list has 34 patients. Patel was admitted to the hospital on March 13 after gobbling up sleeping pills. Jasubhai Patel, kin of the patient while continuously pumping the Ambu bag said that they had first gone to a private hospital but the ICU was full after which Civil Hospital was the last resort. But it has been four days and they still have no idea when Patel will be shifted to the ICU and put on a ventilator. Govt working on bill to curb emigration frauds by travel agents, says Sushma Swaraj
The government is working on an Emigration Management Bill to curb frauds by travel agents, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said today. In a written response to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Swaraj said her ministry is working towards evolving a comprehensive emigration management framework. A committee has been constituted in the ministry comprising all concerned stake-holders to finalise the draft of Emigration Management Bill. One year extension has been taken from the Committee on Government Assurances in this regard, she said. The new bill is expected to strengthen the regulatory framework already in place under the Emigration Act, 1983, towards checking malpractice and unscrupulous activities by recruiting agents. Indian Navy carries out mega war game in Arabian sea
The Indian Navy has carried out a major review of its operational capabilities during a two-month mega war game in the Arabian Sea in which all its frontline warships, submarines and aircraft were deployed. This review included both, peacetime operations as well as the training and preparations for war, the Navy said in a statement. The war game was conducted on both the seaboards of India extending from the northern Arabian sea off the coast of Gujarat to the southern Indian ocean off the Sunda Straits near Indonesia. The Navy said the war game was the first of its kind to be conducted on both seaboards which is indicative of the Navys threat perceptions of a two-front war. The exercise on the eastern seaboard was codenamed ENCORE (Eastern Naval Command Operational Readiness Exercise) ,while on the Western seaboard its codename was Paschim Lehar. NCLT: Objections to Electrosteel bids must be placed before CoC
The Kolkata bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) on Tuesday directed the resolution professional (RP) for the insolvent Electrosteel Steels to place all the objections of Renaissance Steel against its two rival bidders, Vedanta and Tata Steel, before the committee of creditors (CoC) for an Earlier, Abhishek Dalmia-led Renaissance Steel moved the tribunal, asking it to prevent Dhaivat Anjaria, the RP, from proceeding on further negotiations with Vedanta, the highest bidder, till the issue of eligibility of the Anil Agarwal-led company and Tata Steel was determined. The Delhi High Court today warned that it would ask the Centre to release funds directly to the citys civic bodies if the AAP government cannot provide additional finances to the municipal corporations. A bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar made the observation after the corporations told the court that they have not paid wages of their cleaning staff and other employees since December last year due to lack of funds. The corporations, represented by central government standing counsel Monika Arora and advocate Mini Pushkarna, also told the court the AAP government was yet to release funds according to the recommendations of the Fourth Delhi Finance Commission (DFC). GoAir plane makes emergency landing at Delhi
A Mumbai-bound GoAir flight carrying 176 passengers today made an emergency landing at the airport here following a technical glitch, according to the airline. An airport official said the aircraft made the emergency landing at around 2200 hours. The plane was an A320 sharklet. G8 446 (Del- Mum) with 176 passengers had a technical glitch right after becoming airborne. The flight crew chose to return back to Delhi, GoAir said in a statement. The aircraft is on ground and being inspected. All passengers have been accommodated in an alternate aircraft, it added. This is at least the second incident of emergency landing reported today in the country. Earlier in the day, engine failure forced an IndiGo plane to make an emergency landing at Ahmedabad airport. At GoAir, the safety and security of passengers and crew is always accorded high priority and never compromised under any circumstance, the statement said.

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has put the Aam Admi Party (AAP) government in Delhi in the dock over irregularities in ration distribution in the national capital. According to the latest CAG report, at least 50 instances of resources being swindled have been found, prompting the government to call for an inquiry. On Tuesday, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said in the Delhi Assembly that strict action will be taken against persons involved in cases of corruption. He said the city government will send at least 50 cases to the Centre for an investigation by the CB. According to the CAG report, the scam is similar to the fodder scam that rocked the Bihar in 90s when Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Chief Minister. In big trouble for Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, the Income Tax (IT) department on Thursday seized his two bank accounts for non-payment of taxes. As per a report, Sidhu is due to pay Rs 52 lakh.The report says that Sidhu has to produce documents towards dress expenses (Rs. 28,38,405), tour and traveling expenses (Rs. 38,24,282), salary expense (Rs. 47,11,400) and petrol and diesel expenses (Rs. 17,80,358). The IT department says that the cricketer turned politician has failed to provide documentary evidence such as bills or invoices in support of his claim made during the course of assessment proceedings. Since Sidhu was unable to prove the authenticity of the transactions, IT department disallowed 30 percent of the total expenses to prevent leakage of revenue.
